BEIJING, CHINA — Officials at Beijing Huadu Yukou Poultry Company in Pinggu District say advances in breeding technology and scientific research are helping strengthen China’s poultry industry.
Briefing visiting international journalists, company representatives explained that Yukou Poultry specialises in the breeding of layer chickens used for commercial egg production.
Officials indicated that technology and scientific research are increasingly being incorporated into breeding programmes to improve productivity, flock management and the overall efficiency of poultry production.
The company has developed its own breeding capabilities as China seeks to strengthen domestic agricultural innovation and reduce reliance on externally developed poultry breeds.
Officials explained that breeding is a critical part of the poultry value chain because the quality and characteristics of breeding stock can influence egg production, disease resistance and the performance of commercial poultry operations.
Digital systems are also being introduced at different stages of production, allowing operators to monitor conditions and manage breeding operations more efficiently.
Yukou Poultry’s operations form part of Pinggu District’s broader drive to develop modern agriculture through greater use of science, technology and agricultural research.
The district has positioned agricultural innovation alongside logistics, tourism and other industries as part of efforts to diversify its rural economy.
Company representatives also highlighted Yukou Poultry’s growing engagement with international markets as Chinese agricultural enterprises explore opportunities beyond the domestic market.
Yukou Poultry has expanded into Africa, with its self-developed poultry breeds already exported to Tanzania, while the company continues to explore further opportunities in African and other international markets.
The company’s development illustrates how poultry farming is increasingly becoming connected to biotechnology, data management, research and advanced production systems.
Continued investment in breeding research and agricultural technology is expected to play an important role in improving productivity and strengthening China’s poultry value chain.
